From the moment that a parent feels concern about their child’s confidence, academic abilities, or behavior, to the moment that they seek help from a professional there is often much confusion about “what is best.” Especially, once varying opinions on diagnosis begin flowing in. But, the truth is - there is no one specific answer. Every child is unique, and with that, every child deserves to have customized learning support services.

With that in mind, the education system does not make it easy for parents to understand what services children demonstrating unique educational needs may benefit from, or are entitled to under State and Federal law. Is this fair? No. Is this the way it has been for years? Unfortunately, yes. Such injustice potentially does nothing but negatively impact students, frustrate parents, and leave well-meaning teachers at a disadvantage.
